Twitter has suspended an account on Friday that pretended to be connected to The Associated Press, according to The Hill.
@APMyWrist tweeted that Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election even though the count is still active.
The erroneous tweet got hundreds of retweets and likes before Twitter closed it.
Ken Sweet, an actual reporter with AP, encouraged his followers to follow the legitimate account for The Associated Press.
"Fake @AP accounts are saying we called the election for Biden. We have not. Follow @AP_Politics," Chris Krebs tweeted.
The Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency also tweeted, "We're seeing reports of fake media accounts calling a state — don't fall for it!."
On Thursday, Twitter suspended the account for Steve Bannon's YouTube show after he called for coronavirus task force expert Anthony Fauci's head to be put "on pikes."
