Donald Trump Jr: Edited Pelosi Video 'My Idea'; Slams 'Censorship'

By    |   Tuesday, 11 February 2020 11:06 AM EST

Donald Trump Jr. said Tuesday it was his idea to pull together a video depicting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ripping up her copy his father's State of the Union address, making it appear that she was tearing the document while the president spoke, and slammed her for trying to have the clip removed from social media.

The edited video was put together by Charlie Kirk's organization, Turning Points USA, the president's eldest son told Fox News' "Fox and Friends," adding that he works with Kirk "a lot."

The video was created by Benny Johnson, the organization's chief creative officer, Trump Jr. said, but the "meme, that was my idea. I said 'I want this. Can you put it together?'"

"(Johnson) did, and I was the first one to post it," said Trump Jr., pointing out that he was at the speech, sitting "next to those great Americans" his father was speaking about.

"To watch her do that at the end, in this contrived, you know, pre-ripped thing, because she can get away with it," said Trump Jr. "Now she wants total censorship."

Pelosi's camp has been calling to have the clip pulled from social media, but Trump Jr. said it was made of "her actual actions" so it isn't "a fake video."

But Democrats are "used to never having any pushback," he added. "They're used to no one fighting back, and that's why Donald Trump is catching on with conservatives so well."

Meanwhile, the president's oldest son said he was "humbled" by a crowd at his father's election rally in New Hampshire on Monday chanting "46' when he took the stage in support of his running for the White House next,  but he's concentrating on his father's reelection bid.

"I love the direction that this country is going (in)," Trump Jr. said. "I love that he's fighting for Americans, putting Americans first."
