President Donald Trump's campaign and the Republican National Committee are about to rollout a $55 million TV advertising blitz during the final two weeks leading into Election Day, according to senior officials, the Washington Examiner reported.
Over the weekend, whispers circulated that campaign manager Bill Stepien and other Trump insiders were preparing for an Election Day loss.
During a media call on Monday, Stepien and other officials expressed confidence in a Trump win and talked about the massive TV advertising buy.
"We have a better candidate. We're running the better campaign," Stepien said. "We know the pathway to get us to 270. We are not only in position to win this race, but we know the pathway and the plan to get us there."
RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said some of the ads would attempt to sour seniors on the proposed health plans from Democratic nominee Joe Biden, which are expected to cost $2.5 trillion.
Some reports have quoted anonymous campaign sources that think Stepien is getting ready for a Trump loss.
"It's not a great feeling when you get the sense the campaign manager doesn't deep down think we're going to win," a campaign source said to Axios.
