Donald Trump said Saturday that he has received "a lot of calls" from people wanting to be the No. 2 on his ticket for the White House.
"I will tell you one thing, I'm getting calls from a lot of people, and they want it,"
Trump told CNN while touring his golf course in Scotland. "The only people who say they don't want it are the people that were never asked, OK."
Many qualified candidates are interested in the opportunity, Trump said, reiterating that he would announce his choice at the Republican National Convention next month in Cleveland.
Utah Rep. Mia Love, whose name was floated Friday by a former Trump adviser, said that she was skipping the convention to focus on her re-election bid and an upcoming trip to Israel.
"I don't see any upsides to it,"
she told The Salt Lake Tribune on Friday. "I don't see how this benefits the state."
Love was a prime-time speaker during the 2012 convention in Tampa, Fla.
Former Trump aide
Michael Caputo told Fox News Radio that Love and Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton were possible vice presidential choices.
