Republican nominee Donald Trump touted Monday he holds the lead in Michigan despite most polls indicating Democrat Hillary Clinton is in control of the race there.
Trump, at his final rally in Scranton, Pa., ahead of Tuesday's election, knocked on Clinton for making stops in Michigan so late in the contest because "We’re leading in Michigan," The Hill reported.
"I started telling and talking about [how] your car business is being stolen from you," Trump told the crowd in Scranton, per The Hill. "I’ve been saying it for years and years and years, and Michigan now agrees. We're leading in Michigan.
"And when I heard that Crooked Hillary is going there tonight, she had to. When I heard, I figured I have nothing to do tonight, so I'll go there [Monday night] and give it the last word."
The Gravis poll released Monday has Clinton ahead by five percentage points in Michigan, while the Trafalgar Group poll has Trump up by two.
Michigan, which claims 16 electoral votes, has voted Democrat since 1992.
Trump told supporters at a rally over the weekend Clinton was "wasting her time" stopping in Michigan during the final stretch of the race.
"Michigan was never really in play for a Republican. But you know what? It's in play for us. Because all of their cars are being made now in Mexico," Trump said, per to The Hill.
