Democrat Hillary Clinton is leading Republican Donald Trump by 4 points nationally in The Washington Post/ABC News tracking poll released on the day before Tuesday's presidential election.
According to the poll in a four-way race with Libertarian Gary Johnson and the Green Party's Jill Stein, the numbers look like this:
- Clinton: 47 percent
- Trump: 43 percent
- Johnson: 4 percent
- Stein: 1 percent
The race is tighter in a two-way contest:
- Clinton: 49 percent
- Trump: 46 percent
That 3 percent lead is above the poll's 2.5 percent margin of error.
The Post notes that Clinton's 4-point edge is the same as she lead in mid-October as well as President Barack Obama's win over GOP nominee Mitt Romney four years ago.
That said, Trump is performing better in battleground states, which he needs to win 270 electoral votes. He has advantages in Colorado, Florida, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada and Ohio, all of which are considered toss-ups.
The poll spoke to 3,218 likely voters between November 3 and 6.
