President Donald Trump on Thursday took to Twitter to laud a trade agreement between Mexico and the U.S. over sugar.
The U.S. and Mexico announced a plan in principle for the deal and the U.S. sugar industry announced its support for the deal on June 15, according to The Hill.
Sugar producers in the U.S. had said they lost more than $4 billion because of Mexico's trade violations.
"For too long, Mexico was allowed to sidestep our trade laws, but those days are over," Phillip Hayes, spokesman for the American Sugar Alliance said in a statement, The Hill reports.
