President Donald Trump said that he expects to receive a letter from North Korean leader Kim Jong Un about nuclear talks between the two leaders.
Trump told reporters Thursday that talks between U.S. and North Korean diplomats are going "very well," The Hill reports.
"They're going to be coming down to Washington on Friday. And a letter is going to be delivered to me from Kim Jong Un,” said Trump.
The president said he was not sure whether an agreement was coming together, but the negotiations are "in good hands."
The president said that he did not anticipate a deal being done in one meeting.
"It doesn’t mean it gets all done at one meeting. Maybe you have to do a second or third, and maybe we’ll have none, but it’s in good hands,” said Trump.
Also Thursday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with Kim Yong Chol, a top North Korean official, in New York to make summit plans.
