President Donald Trump gave the bum’s rush to Sen. Martha McSally, R-Ariz., at a campaign rally, calling her up to the stage, telling her to make it “quick,” and giving her a "minute" to deliver, video of the event in Goodyear, Ariz. shows.
Polling has shown McSally behind her Democratic challenger, former astronaut Mark Kelly.
"Martha, just come up fast. Fast. Fast. Come on. Quick. You got one minute! One minute, Martha! They don’t want to hear this, Martha. Come on. Let’s go. Quick, quick, quick. Come on. Let’s go," Trump barked at the Wednesday night rally.
McSally spoke for just over a minute, and said she was "proud" to work with the president, NBC News reported.
After McSally spoke, Trump called up three out-of-state politicians — Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, and Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif. — and didn’t put the screws to any of them to make it quick, NBC News reported.
Of the three, only McCarthy is running for re-election in November. All spoke longer than McSally — as did another guest speaker Trump called on, Nigel Farage of Britain's Brexit party.
It wasn't the first time Trump appeared unenthusiastic labout McSally, Fox News reported.
During a Tucson, Ariz. rally earlier this month, Trump gushed over McSally's GOP primary challenger, Kelli Ward, the news outlet reported.
“A friend of mine, somebody that was great, she would have been — oh, if she didn’t have three, four people running at the same time — she would’ve been your senator,” Trump said at the rally last week, Fox News reported.
“Hate to say it, she would have been your senator. A friend that’s so loyal, and strong, and a good person, Arizona GOP chair, Kelli Ward. She’s worked so hard. She is some warrior, and fighter," he added.
