President Donald Trump said his appearances on the campaign trail mobilizes Republicans while convincing Democrats to give up, according to The Wall Street Journal.
His comments came in a 20-minute impromptu interview in the Oval Office on Wednesday, the newspaper said.
He was asked if his campaign appearances could energize Democratic voters.
“It may — but it energizes my people much more than it energizes them,” he said.
“I think the Democrats give up when I turn out. If you want to know the truth, I don’t think it energizes them. I think it de-energizes them. I think they give up when I turn out.”

“As long as I can get out and campaign, I think they’re going to win, I really do,” he said. “It’s a lot of work for me. I have to make 50 stops, it’s a lot. So, there aren’t a lot of people that can do that, physically. Fortunately, I have no problem with that.”
Meanwhile, a Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday showed 42 percent of Republicans say the president has no impact on their views of the party; 39 percent think more favorably of the GOP because of Trump and 18 percent say he makes them think less favorably of the party.
