Democratic presidential hopefuls already are campaigning for 2020 as the new year gets underway, NBC News is reporting.

And they are not alone. President Donald Trump will be on the campaign trail this year, as well.

About two dozen Democrats are mulling the race for the White House including governors, senators, and House lawmakers, according to the network news.

And NBC News reported former Vice President Joe Biden will be looking like a candidate this year as he plans to raise money for Democratic senators seeking re-election and get involved in House campaigns.

"You're going to see him all over the place," said Greg Schultz, executive director of Biden's American Possibilities PAC.

Former Democratic candidate, Sen. Bernie Sanders, already has a national political operation in place, NBC News reported.

"Everyone I know who has been part of this Bernie movement never stopped," said Nomiki Konst, a Sanders supporter and member of the Democratic Party's Unity Reform Commission. "We got so close, so why would you give up and go home?"

Other possible Democrats like Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, Kamala Harris of California, Cory Booker of New Jersey and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts will be trying to determine how they could win the nomination, the network news said..

The Washington Post reported the field appears to be wide open and it noted those who lock down their base of support early could be rewarded.

Some potential candidates already have hired presidential campaign veterans.

Meanwhile, President Trump, who filed paperwork for re-election the day he took the oath of office, is expected to be very active this year as well. NBC News reported he already is testing out campaign themes on the trail.

"I think it's going to be very hard for somebody to beat us in a few years, can you imagine?" Trump said in a rally in Pensacola, Florida last month. "All you have to say is, with us it goes up, with them it goes down — and that's the end of the election, right?"
