Donald Trump doesn't believe Carly Fiorina is a good pick for vice president, after
CNN reported that Ted Cruz is considering adding her as his running mate.
"Carly did not resonate at all with people," Trump said on ABC's "Good Morning America," according to a
Politico report.
He said his criticism was not because Fiorina is a woman, but because she "didn't do well."
Trump said he believed Cruz should not pick a vice presidential running mate yet, since he has not won the nomination. On Fox & Friends, Trump called Cruz's vetting of Fiorina for the job possibility "ridiculous."
"Frankly, he's wasting his time," Trump said in the interview.
Trump referred to Fiorina's appearance in the first Republican debate in August, in which Trump said she had "one good debate." After that, her performance in the polls dropped, Trump pointed out.
An article in
Salon said Fiorina would not function well in the current election, in which "economic populists" rebuke the outsourcing of U.S. jobs. Fiorina outsourced jobs to China and presided over thousands of layoffs during her time at Hewlett-Packard, Salon reports.
Trump said he liked Fiorina, but Cruz adding her to his ticket "is not going to do the trick."
Having Fiorina on the ticket could give Cruz an edge in California, where Fiorina ran for Senate in 2010,
reported Fortune.
