President Donald Trump will host a private contest dinner on Jan. 20 at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida to mark the first anniversary of his inauguration, according to news reports Wednesday.
The Trump 2020 campaign said in a text that "two great Americans" who give as little as $3 will be entered in the contest, with "flight and hotel included," at the resort in Palm Beach, Florida, Politico reports.
Michael Glassner, the Trump campaign's executive director, told Politico that the dinner would be held at Mar-a-Lago.
The location was not specified in the original text message.
The Trump campaign's effort comes out of former Democratic President Barack Obama's playbook, which used contest dinners frequently to bring in small-dollar donations, Politico reports.
Trump's 2020 campaign held similar contests last June in Washington and in October in New York.
The Republican National Committee also held a similar event with Trump last fall in Dallas, according to the report.
