President Donald Trump received the strongest Jewish backing from Floridians, Haaretz reports.
According to the J Street exit poll released on Wednesday, 77% of American Jews voted for Biden, while 21% voted for Trump. But according to preliminary estimates published Wednesday by AP Votecast, Florida's Jewish population had a closer split.
AP VoteCast poll results show:
- 58% of Florida Jews say they voted for Biden.
- 41% of Florida Jews say they voted for Trump.
University of Florida political scientist Beth Rosenson told Haaretz that Florida’s Jewish voters may have opted to back the president because of his pro-Israel policies.
“Nine percent of the population is Jewish in Florida, so over 600,000 people there are Jewish,” she said. “The various things that he has done – the peace agreement with Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates, relocating the embassy [to Jerusalem] – I think a lot of that does resonate with Jewish voters in Florida.”
