President Donald Trump suggested Thursday he’s not going along with any new guardrail that would cut off a candidate’s microphone if he talks over his opponent and the moderator.

“Why would I allow the Debate Commission to change the rules for the second and third Debates when I easily won last time?" he tweeted.

The proposed change was triggered by complaints about how much Trump interrupted Joe Biden’s remarks during the first debate on Tuesday.

But Trump campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh told Axios they "will absolutely oppose" the Commission's proposed changes, offering no specifics.

Murtaugh told Axios the Biden campaign is "running to the commission to try to get the rules changed" because "their guy had a lousy performance."

Biden’s deputy campaign manager Kate Bedingfield pushed back.

“Joe Biden is looking forward to the Town Hall in Miami. He'll be focused on answering questions from the voters there, under whatever set of rules the Commission develops to try to contain Donald Trump's behavior," she told Axios.
