The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals included a citation for one of President Donald Trump's tweets in its ruling against his executive order banning travel from several Muslim-majority nations.
The Boston Globe's Matt Viser tweeted an image of the decision with the citation of a tweet from June 5, 2017, in which Trump criticized the Justice Department for submitting a "watered down" version of his order.
After Trump's tweet, The New York Times wrote he might have jeopardized his case by contradicting his aides in calling it a "travel ban" instead of a pause, and for calling the revised version "politically correct," implying the ban is based on religion, and saying it was "watered down," directly connecting this version with the original, which specified religion.
