Calling China's efforts to unseat the United States as the world leader an "epic battle of our times," President Donald Trump's economic adviser Steve Moore warns against voting a "China apologist" like former Vice President Joe Biden into the White House.
"They steal our intellectual property and our inventions and our technology to the tune of $300 billion," Moore told Sunday's "The Cats Roundtable" on 970 AM-N.Y. "They are involved in cyber-espionage against the United States. This is not a friendly power . . . I think this is the new Cold War . . .
"They may just say we will take the big hit for 18 months and then hope Joe Biden becomes president. By the way, Joe Biden is a pacifist and a China apologist. They'd much rather deal with someone like that."
Moore, referring to Biden's campaign speech where he said China "is not competition for us," reminded host John Catsimatidis that China's population is "three or four times" that of the U.S. and they are a threat to become the world's economic leader over the U.S.
"This is the epic battle of our times," Moore told Catsimatidis. "The struggle between the United States and China . . . they want to unseat us as the largest economy in the world.
"As Donald Trump has said . . . You're no longer a poor country. You are no longer a Third-World country. You are the second-largest economy in the world. You have to play by the rules. They violated every rule there is in the World Trade Organization."
Despite their potential desire to wait for Biden in the White House, Moore still believes China will come back to the table to make a trade deal with President Trump.
"I think by the end of this year I think China is going to relent," Moore said. "I think they underestimated Trump. I think that we're going to get a trade deal with China that ends some of these abusive trade practices that the Chinese impose on us."
