Sen. Tom Cotton Tuesday called Susan Rice the "Typhoid Mary" of President Barack Obama's administration's foreign policy and said that if Joe Biden picks her as his running mate, she would be the first nominee to "potentially face a grand jury."
“Every major debacle in President Obama’s tenure, Susan Rice was right in the middle of," the Arkansas Republican said on Fox News' "Fox and Friends." Rice was Obama's national security adviser. "Like, look at — look at China. She consistently counseled appeasement towards China. She commanded that our military leaders in the Pacific not raise China’s efforts to militarize the South China Sea and create bases out of rocks in the water to extend the range of their planes and their missiles.”
Rice was also "right in the middle of the Iran nuclear deal," Cotton added, and she "counseled appeasement of Russia going into the 2016 election."
Further, after President Donald Trump was elected, Rice was "at the center of spying on the Trump campaign and unmasking American citizens who had been caught up in that dragnet."
And while nominees face the "jury of the American people," Rice could "potentially face a grand jury as well," Cotton said.
Cotton also talked about the move to defund police departments after Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best announced her resignation Monday upon city leaders voting to slash the police department's budget there.
"You're going to see more of what we saw in Chicago the other night, anarchists and rioters in the street, destroying property, risking lives," said Cotton. "All these liberal mayors and governors think they can reason with these rioters but in the end, it's not enough, because they want more."
Many liberal politicians "live in fantasy land," said Cotton, and police departments and chiefs are being disrespected by cuts and orders to pull back in certain neighborhoods, which will lead to more crime.
