Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., said Joe Biden's pick to head the Department of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, should be disqualified.

"[Mayorkas] was found by Barack Obama's inspector general to be guilty of selling green cards to Chinese nationals on behalf of rich, Democratic donors," Cotton said. "Think about that … selling citizenship to well-connected Chinese nationals on behalf of Democratic Party donors. That is disqualifying to lead the Department of Homeland Security."

Cotton's comments came Wednesday during an interview on television's "Fox & Friends." He posted a clip from the interview on his Twitter account.

Fox News had reported that an inspector general's report found Mayorkas had intervened to help foreign investors who were connected to top Democrats with the EB-5 visa program.

The EB-5 visa program permits foreigners who invest in business ventures that create American jobs to apply for green cards.

According to Fox News, the report found that in three EB-5 cases, each involving high-profile Democrats, Mayorkas intervened "outside the normal adjudicatory process" and "in ways that benefited the stakeholders."
