Rep. Todd Rokita, R-Ind., said he did not support the Republican spending plan, but believes President Donald Trump was right to sign it into law.
"What Congress didn't do, what politicians don't do, is make the hard choices … the president had to sign what we gave him, and we gave him a real pile on that bill," Rokita said Thursday on Fox News' "Fox & Friends."
The House of Representatives will do more with a plan on immigration, he continued, and if a bill sponsored by Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., passed in both the House and Senate, Trump would sign it.
The House is working on gathering votes for the bill and "we're getting there. We're whipping as hard as we can to get there," Rokita added.
On Wednesday, Rokita penned a column for Town Hall slamming "out-of-touch liberals" over the tax cut legislation.
"Liberals in Washington refuse to acknowledge that President Trump's middle class tax cuts are helping Americans get ahead and keep more of their property."
