As the presidential race gets set to wind down, Donald Trump has not publicly signed a pledge not to raise taxes, an anti-tax crusader said.
"He has not made a commitment not to raise taxes," Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform said in a televised interview, The Hill reported. "He has committed to a significant tax cut first thing, which is good and healthy, but has not yet made a commitment to the American people never to raise taxes."
Norquist said he was told the candidate had actually signed the pledge, according to The Hill, but when the organization requested the signed document, it never received the pledge.
The website for the American for Tax Reform claims 48 senators, 220 House members and 11 governors have already signed the pledge, The Hill reported.
Norquist said he would "feel more comfortable" if he had a signed pledge from Trump, but praised the Republican candidate for his proposed tax plan. He did call Trump's tax cut plan "very healthy."
Norquist noted Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton has "made a commitment to raise taxes dramatically," The Hill noted.
