President Donald Trump Friday continued his rebuke of the bias in the Commission on Presidential Debates and its hand-picked moderators.
Trump tweeted:
"Steve Scully, the second Debate Moderator, is a Never Trumper, just like the son of the great Mike Wallace. Fix!!!"
Scully is reported to have been an intern for Joe Biden, saying the Democrat candidate has been a significant influence in his career. He has also been shown in pictures arm-in-arm with Biden.
It unclear whether Scully is now out of a debate moderating role, since the commission co-chair Frank Fahrenkopf told Fox News' "The Story" the second debate is canceled and the Oct. 22 debate in Nashville, Tennessee, is slated to be the last one.
Trump also called Scully a "never-Trumper" on Fox News' "Hannity" on Thursday night, and has been a frequent critic of the debate commission as a collection of "never-Trumpers."
Trump tweeted in December 2019:
"The problem is that the so-called Commission on Presidential Debates is stacked with Trump Haters & Never Trumpers. 3 years ago they were forced to publicly apologize for modulating my microphone in the first debate against Crooked Hillary. As President, the debates are up...
"....to me, and there are many options, including doing them directly & avoiding the nasty politics of this very biased Commission. I will make a decision at an appropriate time but in the meantime, the Commission on Presidential Debates is NOT authorized to speak for me (or Rs')!"
