Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who has been hanging on in third place in the GOP presidential race for weeks rather than dropping out, "is a liberal" who backs many of the same agenda items that Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton does, Newsmax TV host Steve Malzberg told CNN Tuesday morning.
"He believes in man-made climate change," the host of
"The Steve Malzberg Show" told CNN's Carol Costello. "He believes in accepting the gay marriage issue. The court decided."
The Ohio governor, Malzberg continued, is "socially a liberal. Physically, he's conservative, but Donald Trump brings something to the table nobody else does and that's the experience of having run a wildly successful business."
Malzberg, however, said he does not understand why Trump is pushing for Kasich to drop out of the campaign, and he's not the only one.
"I had [former Trump adviser]
Roger Stone on my show yesterday, and he didn't understand it either."
But, he continued, Kasich is looking forward to an open convention, and he is staying in to make sure the front-runner does not get the 1,237 delegates he needs to clinch the GOP nomination, "and he hopes or has been told by the establishment he has a great shot."
