Former Vice President Joe Biden said he will not testify at President Donald Trump's impeachment trial as part of any witness swap deal.
According to The Washington Post, Biden was asked during an Iowa campaign stop if he would offer to testify in return for testimony from people such as former national security adviser John Bolton or acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney.
"We're not going to turn it into a farce or to some kind of political theater," he said. "They're trying to do that. I want no part of that."
And he added: "I'm not going to play [Trump's] game. The Senate's job is now to try him. My job is to beat him" in the November election.
"The reason I would not make the deal, the bottom line is, this is a constitutional issue."
Top Democrats have rejected the idea of swapping witnesses, the Post noted.
"This isn't like some fantasy football trade," said Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., one of the House impeachment managers. "Trials aren't trades for witnesses."
