The White House is considering a plan to make Sean Spicer a Trump administration communications chief – a position equivalent to that of a deputy chief of staff, reports say.
The role would be new for a White House, the Washington Examiner reported.
Fox News reported the new position would be equal to a deputy chief of staff.
The position would be a promotion for Spicer – and reflects President Donald Trump's "increasing confidence in Spicer's ability to improve the administration's communications," the Examiner reported.
The Examiner, quoting an unnamed adviser, said the new job would help the White House better coordinate daily and long-term communications, improve cabinet communications and improve the teamwork between the Republican National Committee and outside surrogates.
