President Donald Trump needs to be more careful with what he says, according to Rep. Scott Taylor.

"Words matter. There's no doubt about that. I think that this president, he's new, he's certainly not a politician," the Virginia Republican told CNN's "New Day" program on Monday.

"He's learning on the job. I'm not taking up for him, just telling you that's a fact."

"He must be more careful and cautious… the president absolutely has to be more careful, because the world is paying attention. They're listening to everything he's saying. They're trying to figure out how to interpret him," Taylor added.

Taylor is set to begin town hall meetings Monday in his Virginia Beach district, according to The Virginian-Pilot.

"I do believe I represent everyone. Obviously, I was elected by a certain group of people. That being said, I want everyone to have a seat at the table," Taylor said.
