President Donald Trump "is arguably the most media savvy person in history, but certainly of our times," New White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci told CNN's "New Day" program on Wednesday.
Scaramucci said it is those skills that enabled Trump to hop "right over the mainstream media and use social media mechanisms, like Twitter and Facebook and Instagram, to hit directly to the American people," adding that "it's the reason why we spent less money and less staff during the campaign and won the election."
Deflecting criticism of the president's tweeting habits, Scaramucci said Trump's supporters do not overreact and micro-analyze the tweets, as the media and elites do, but find them funny and refreshing.
Scaramucci emphasized that the best thing about Trump "is that he's wickedly wealthy and that he's able to play golf in all these unbelievable golf courses and he's able to have a connection to the elites. And then all of that, and he's still able to relate to regular people and regular people are cheering and identifying with him.
"And he's able to identify systemic problems in the middle class and the lower class despite his wealth. How about that for emotional quotient and intelligence and empathy?"
