Rep. Scalise: Flynn Findings Raise 'Serious Questions' About Obama, Biden

By    |   Monday, 11 May 2020 03:07 PM EDT

The evidence unfolding about the case of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn raises some "very serious questions" about whether the matter went "all the way to the top" and if then-President Barack Obama and his vice president, Joe Biden, knew what was going on, Senate Minority Whip Steve Scalise said Monday.

"It's something that we've been exposing and fighting to get the truth out for a long time," the Louisiana Republican told Fox Business' Maria Bartiromo. "We're talking years to try to get the facts out on this the FBI and some of the holdovers in the Justice Department were trying to hide this from getting out."

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff  also was "trying to mislead people," said Scalise, referring to documents of testimony before Schiff's committee and of notes the FBI agents interrogating Flynn had written.

"The FBI had previously made a decision not to go forward with a prosecution of Gen. Flynn because he didn't do anything wrong, and instead a few of the dirty cops wanted to set him up because they ultimately wanted to take down Donald Trump even after he was duly elected," said Scalise. "There was no evidence except the Russian disinformation that came from the steel dossier which was fueled by a Democratic Party operatives tied to Hillary Clinton's campaign. This is disgraceful."

Meanwhile, any Russian attempts to interfere in U.S. elections would have happened in 2016, when Biden and Obama were in charge.

"The people that we already know we're dirty cops really need to be held accountable and people need to go to jail," said Scalise.

The lawmaker added that he wants to see U.S. Attorney John Durham's investigation into the origins of the Russia probe expedited.
