The conservative group Club for Growth has endorsed Ronny Jackson, the former White House physician, in the Republican primary runoff for a Texas congressional seat.
Jackson is running against Josh Winegarner in a bid to replace retiring Rep. Mac Thornberry, R-Texas.
"We are proud to join President (Donald) Trump in endorsing Ronny Jackson, a principled, pro-growth conservative and former presidential physician who served our country in uniform as an admiral in the U.S. Navy," Club for Growth's president, David McIntosh, said in a statement shared with The Texas Tribune.
Trump had endorsed Jackson in a Friday tweet, saying: “Ronny has my Complete and Total endorsement! Vote for Ronny!”
Winegarner, who serves as industry affairs director for the Texas Cattle Feeders Association, finished first in the March primary.
