Longtime talk host Geraldo Rivera said Friday that President Donald Trump told him he will ''do the right thing'' with the results of the 2020 presidential election, though he was waiting to see ''what states do in terms'' of certification.
''Just had heartfelt phone call w friend @realDonaldTrump who said he's a ''realist" who'll do the"right thing," Rivera tweeted Friday.
''But he wants to see ''what states do in terms of certifiction (etc)'' He sounded committed to fighting for every vote & if he loses, talking more about all he's accomplished.''
He also said Trump ''seemed particularly aggrieved by the savage attacks on his presidency from the minute he was elected.''
''He reserved special scorn for the phony Russia hoax & Pelosi-driven phony #Impeachment.''
Rivera also said Trump asked him what he knew about Dominion Voting Systems, ''which I promised to check out.''
Trump on Thursday tweeted out an OAN report on the voting machines and software, claiming nearly 3 million votes for him were deleted and thousands ''switched'' to Biden.
Many news outlets have called the race for Democratic challenger Joe Biden, though Trump has refused to concede, citing voter fraud. Newsmax has not announced a winner.
Trump on Friday spoke in public for the first time in a week as he touted his administration’s Operation Warp Speed project. He has shared his complaints about the election via Twitter. His legal team had two setbacks Friday as his lawyers abandoned a suit seeking a hand count of ballots in Arizona after a series of media networks called the race for Biden. Also, a Michigan state court rejected a request by his supporters to block the certification of votes and appoint an independent auditor in Detroit, which voted heavily in favor of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.
