Florida Gov. Rick Scott, who heads a super PAC backing Donald Trump, declared Sunday the election is "all about jobs," and that the GOP presidential nominee is "somebody that knows how to create jobs."
In an interview with NBC News' "Meet the Press," Scott also said that although he released his own tax returns for public scrutiny, "every candidate is different," and refused to criticize Trump's refusal to make his returns public.
"We've got a business person versus Hillary Clinton, a career politician," he said. "Somebody that knows how to create jobs. Hillary Clinton has never created a private sector job. That's the election, it's all about jobs."
"They said they walked out of the White House broke," Scott added, referring to Clinton and former President Bill Clinton. "They started a foundation and now they're worth more than $100 million. Something doesn't pass the smell test. You shouldn't be getting rich because you're a public servant."
When pressed about his own tax returns disclosure, and whether he would advise Trump to do the same, Scott repeatedly said "every candidate is different."
"My track record is I've always been as transparent as I can," he said, but added:
"Remember, this is about jobs, who's going to create jobs. I need a partner in DC."
