Right-leaning Los Angeles radio host John Phillips says Hillary Clinton may be "the Democrats' Richard Nixon."
In a column about the Democratic presidential front-runner, published in the
Orange County Register, Phillips writes:
"Since Hillary's problems are coming from both the right and the left wings within the party, it's unlikely that that their objections are based on ideology. Maybe her problem is that they're just not that into her.
"In many ways, Hillary is the Democrats' Richard Nixon: She has run for president as the favorite before and lost, was a high-ranking member of a two-term administration and has been on the nation's political radar for decades."
Phillips, who co-hosts "The Drive Home with Jillian Barberie and John Phillips" weekdays on
KABC 790, says that "baggage … sometimes manifests itself in different ways, including a lack of voter enthusiasm."
