As closed-door testimony continues to leak out amid the House Democrats' impeachment inquiry, speculation rises former National Security Adviser John Bolton might wind up a "hero of the resistance," Politico reported Tuesday.

Career diplomats worried about President Donald Trump's foreign policy with regard to Ukraine have indicated in testimony that NSA Bolton was alarmed, too, raising resistance impeachment hopes Bolton might provide damaging testimony against the president, according to the report.

At least one Bolton ally, rejects that wishful thinking, however, per Politico.

"This idea of John Bolton being a hero on the left is such nonsense," said Fred Fleitz, a frequent Newsmax TV guest and Bolton's former chief of staff at the National Security Council. "John Bolton is a Reagan conservative, and he's going to remain so after this process."

According to reported leaked testimony, Bolton had equated lawyer Rudy Giuliani and White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney seeking investigation assistance from Ukraine to that of "drug deal," even calling Giuliani a "hand grenade."

National security lawyer, and frequent Trump critic, Bradley Moss tweeted after that leak: "Am I going to have to like Bolton now?"

Bolton, a hawkish veteran of the Bush 43 administration President Trump had often criticized, did not just break from Trump on Ukraine – as Amb. Bill Taylor reportedly testified Tuesday. Bolton also reportedly said denuclearization talks with North Korea were "doomed to failure" and peace talks at Camp David with the Taliban before 9/11 were "disrespectful" to victims families.

Ultimately, Bolton might be useful to Rep. Adam Schiff's, D-Calif., impeachment attempt because he could be used to tie the withholding of military aid to Ukraine to the seeking of politically motivated investigations, as Amb. Taylor testified, per Politico.

As noted in the Politico report, the eventual release of the delayed military aid corresponded with Bolton's ouster as National Security Adviser.
