The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is flouting House ethics rules with ads it has been running featuring a segment from President Barack Obama’s recent House speech on his jobs initiative, alleges the Republican National Lawyers Association.
The lawyers group is filing its second complaint against DNC Chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wassermann Schultz of Florida over a 30-second spot that it says violates a rule against lawmakers using such footage for campaign purposes, according to
DailyCaller.com.
The association’s letter to the Office of Congressional Ethics demands an investigation into the Obama ad. A Spanish-language version of the campaign was just launched in Miami, Las Vegas, Denver, and Tampa featuring this plea: “In the face of Republicans, the President can’t do it alone. Read the plan. Stand together for more jobs.”
“The Obama administration, the DNC, and the Democrat leadership in the House believe in rules only as they apply to others,” the lawyers association contends. “At a time when the president and the House Minority Leader repeatedly plead for bi-partisanship, they spare no effort to be confrontational wherever and whenever possible. They certainly don’t let House rules stand in their way.”
