A number of Republican lawmakers on Friday encouraged President Donald Trump to veto the omnibus spending bill after the president sent a tweet saying that he might do so.

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., agreed that Trump should veto the bill, calling it a "sad excuse for legislation."
"Career politicians put you in this position, Mr. President," said Sen. David Perdue, R-Ga., in a tweet.
Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., the leader of the House Freedom Caucus called on Trump to "negotiate a better deal for the forgotten men and women of America" in a Friday tweet.
