President Donald Trump's approval rating received a small bump in the latest Rasmussen Reports daily presidential poll.

Trump's approval rating has fallen since his inauguration, but it has not been a steady downhill slope. Most recently it dipped before rebounding at the end of March and beginning of April.

The results:

  • April 5: 46 percent.
  • April 4: 43 percent.
  • April 3: 42 percent.
  • March 31: 43 percent.
  • March 30: 44 percent.
  • March 23: 50 percent.

In contrast, the IBC/TIPP poll has Trump's approval rating plummeting since his inauguration.

  • April: 38 percent
  • March: 44.1 percent.
  • February: 46.5 percent.

Investor's Business Daily attributes the drop to the failure of the Republican healthcare bill, which Trump heavily pushed.

"As his ambitious agenda encounters some obstacles in Congress, President Trump's approval ratings have declined," Raghavan Mayur, president of TechnoMetrica which runs the IBD/TIPP Poll, said in a statement.

"For instance, the inability of Congress to pass the proposed healthcare bill has weighed down Americans' approval of Trump's overall performance as president.

"Also, some Americans had hoped that he and Congress would take up tax reform first, rather than wait for healthcare reform. The media's persistently negative coverage of President Trump, especially regarding the ongoing Russian investigation, has also taken a toll on his approval numbers."
