A new
Rasmussen Reports poll released Thursday shows Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton and presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump in a virtual tie
According to the poll:
- 40 percent support Clinton;
- 39 percent support Trump;
- 14 percent prefer some other candidate;
- 7 percent undecided.
By party affiliation:
- 77 percent of Democrats favor Clinton;
- 72 percent of Republicans favor Donald Trump.
Among voters not affiliated with a major party:
- 34 percent prefer Trump;
- 30 percent prefer Clinton;
- 37 percent prefer another candidate, or are undecided.
In a previous
Rasmussen survey, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders did better against Trump than Clinton, with 45 percent of voters supporting him and 41 percent in favor of Trump.
The survey of 1,000 likely votes was conducted on May 23-24, 2016. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points
