President Donald Trump accused Democrats of using the "race card" in criticizing him during an interview that aired Tuesday morning.
Fox News asked Trump about a claim of racism comedian Jimmy Kimmel threw at him during Sunday night's Oscars telecast. Trump said the practice was par for the course.
"It just seems that the other side, whenever they are losing badly, they pull out the race card," he said during the "Fox and Friends" interview.
"And I've watched it for years. I've watched it against Ronald Reagan. I've watched it against so many other people. And they always like pulling out the race card."
Trump was then asked if he takes any of the criticisms personal, to which he replied, "I can't because I consider it a very serious violation when they say it, and I have to write it off as being purely politics."
Trump told Breitbart News, meanwhile, that the Oscars mix-up as to who won the Best Picture award happened because the Academy Awards were "focused so hard on politics."
