Poll: Many College Students See Political Opponents as Evil

Thirty-nine percent of Republican college students think Democrats are essentially evil -- and 37% of Democrats attending universities think the same of Republicans, according to a College Fix poll.

The students’ responses came from a survey question about whether members of the opposite political party “are not just worse for politics – they are basically evil.”

Here are how the results break down:

• 18% of those polled say they are Republican leaning independents. Six percent say they are “weak” Republicans and 8% say they are “strong” Republicans.
• 30% say they are Democratic Party leaning independents. 19% say they are “weak” Democrats and 19% say they are “strong” Democrats
• 7% agree it is justified for Democrats to use violence in advancing their political goals, compared to 91% who disagree.
• 6% say it is justified for Republicans to use violence in advancing their political goals, while 88% disagree.

The February survey questioned 1,000 undergraduate students currently enrolled in the U.S.  It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
