The billionaire businessman who funded Hulk Hogan's successful, crippling lawsuit against Gawker Media has been tapped to speak in support of Donald Trump at next week's Republican National Convention.
Peter Thiel, who co-founded PayPal and is on the board of directors of Facebook,
told CNN that part of his address will focus on issues facing the United States and how they should be addressed.
"Many people are uncertain in this election year, but most Americans agree that our country is on the wrong track," Thiel said. "I don't think we can fix our problems unless we can talk about them frankly."
The venture capitalist, who is a California GOP delegate, emerged as the money man behind Hogan's legal team in a lawsuit against the gossip website for posting a part of a sex video Hogan was featured in.
A Florida jury granted Hogan $140 million in damages, prompting the company to file for bankruptcy and be put up for sale.
Thiel, it turned out, is no fan of Gawker, which in 2007 posted a story on its no-defunct sister website site ValleyWag, titled, "Peter Thiel is totally gay, people."
