Pelosi: Trump the 'Only Person Talking About a Government Shutdown'

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., took a jab via Twitter at President Donald Trump on Wednesday for saying a government shutdown "could happen" this weekend, and casting the blame on Democrats.

President Trump is the only person talking about a government shutdown. Democrats are hopeful the President will be open to an agreement to address the urgent needs of the American people and keep government open.

Trump told reporters on Wednesday that a shutdown "could happen," according to The Hill. 

"The Democrats are really looking at something that is very dangerous to our country," he added. "They are looking at shutting down."

The president went on to slam the party's position on illegal immigration, saying, "they want to have illegal immigrants pouring into our country, bringing with them crime. Tremendous amounts of crime."

Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., both balked on meeting with Trump last week after he tweeted that he couldn't "see a deal" with Democrats on government funding.
