Pelosi: GOP Californians Who Support Tax Bill Don't Belong in State

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi suggested in a tweet she posted on Tuesday that Republicans in California who are backing the GOP tax bill recently passed by both the House and the Senate should not be living in the state.

Pelosi’s tweet came as Democrats harshly criticized the Senate and House GOP tax bills, which they say will mainly benefit corporations and the wealthy.

A day earlier, Pelosi told reporters that the legislation was "the end of the world."

Referring to the Senate version of the bill, which includes a repeal of the individual mandate, a key feature of the healthcare law that requires people to buy insurance or pay a penalty, Pelosi said that "The debate over healthcare is life and death. This is Armageddon," The Hill reported.

During floor debate in the House on the tax proposal, Pelosi called it "the worst bill in the history of the United States Congress… because it involves more money, hurts more people, increases the deficit by so much more, and just because everything is bigger in our country, the consequences of this bill, a multi-trillion dollar economy being addressed by a bill that had no hearings, no expert testimony, just the speed of light.”
