Paul Ryan Calls on GOP to Run on Principles, Not Personalities

House Speaker Paul Ryan Wednesday called on Republicans to run on principles — not personalities.

"I have not seen the kind of bitterness in our politics like we have today," the Wisconsin Republican said in a new YouTube video. "I got to say it's both sides. I'd love to say it's just Democrats — but it's not, it's both.

"It doesn't have to be that way," Ryan said. "America can do better.

"Republicans lose personality contests anyway. We always do — but we win ideas contests," he said. "We owe you that choice."
