Former New York GOP gubernatorial nominee Carl Paladino says he hasn't decided if he'll try another run for Albany in 2018, but if he does, he's sure President-elect Donald Trump will "absolutely" endorse him.

"We did talk about it at one point," Paladino, who has been one of Trump's closest surrogates throughout the 2016 election cycle, told Newsday on Thursday, while declining to discuss the private conversation in detail.

Paladino, who was New York's GOP nominee in 2010, didn't say when he'll decide if he'll run for governor, but said he's "just a happy guy right now" with Trump's win.

"It's a feeling that you had a part in an enormous historical moment, and it makes you feel so good," he told Newsday. "I did my part for America and for the movement and that's what it is: a political revolution. The entire Republican Party has been recast for the working man and that is the awesome part of it. The old boys' network is gone."

Paladino said Trump's victory shows that the "frustration of the people is huge," and New Yorkers upstate and in the Hudson Valley are tired of Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo, "who won't give us fracking, but gives us five casinos to soak the last nickel out of poor people. It's sickening."

Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, a former New York senator, beat Trump in the state by 57-36 percent. Trump defeated her in 46 out of the state's 62 counties, but Clinton pulled off her win in by taking New York City.
