Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., a vocal critic of President Donald Trump, is praising his response to the coronavirus outbreak.
Her comments came in tweets Wednesday night.
“Politics aside, this is incredible and the right response in this critical time,” she said of Trump’s actions.
Omar’s tweet was in response to a post by The Intercept’s Lee Fang, who had said: “Trump suspending mortgage foreclosures, demanding cash payments to Americans, now invoking the Defense Production Act to force private firms to produce needed supplies is incredible. Kind of a shell shock for anyone who reported on any economic policies in the Obama years.”
And, in another tweet, Omar referred to words by from Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass.: “AyannaPressley always says, unprecedented times require unprecedented leadership and we are seeing that in our country right now. I have faith that we will survive this as a nation and build together.”
She added: “Finally, we should never let politics get in the way of good policy. This is a great start and hope others will be part of a united front to push for good policies that will help us work through the economic anxiety the country is feeling right now.”
Trump and Omar have repeatedly been at odds in the past. He once referred to her as “America hating anti-Semite Rep. Omar.”
And she has ripped him on a variety of issues, including his response to hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico and has attacked him for his “lies.”
