Axios: Obamacare Premium Prices Could Rise by Average of 34 Percent

Health insurance premiums purchased on the Healthcare.gov website are predicted to increase by an average of 34 percent, according to an independent analysis reported Thursday by Axios.

According to the data in the analysis:

• Bronze plan in 2017: $476. Prediction for 2018: $561.
• Silver plan in 2017: $554. Prediction for 2018: $743.
• Gold plan in 2017: $714. Prediction for 2018: $831.
• Platinum plan in 2017: $907. Prediction for 2018: $1,125.

Axios' Sam Baker reported that "benchmark" plans used to determine the size of a premium subsidy will be 38 percent higher on average.

According to a nonpartisan analysis, a bipartisan repair of Obamacare would cut the U.S. deficit.
