"Scandal" creator Shonda Rhimes is throwing a fundraising bash at her Los Angeles home for the Democratic National Convention with President Barack Obama as the guest of honor,
according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Actress Kerry Washington, who plays Olivia Pope on the hit ABC show, is serving on the host committee for the July 23 shindig, which is offering tickets ranging from $1,000 to $32,400.
Ticket-holders who pay top price will be able to have their photo taken with the president as well as take part in the reception and private dinner.
"This is sure to be among the most exciting events of the year," said the invite, according to the Reporter. "President Obama will only be participating in DNC events on his trip to southern California.
"This evening will begin with a reception and music performance. Following the performance, President Obama will give remarks to event guests and there will be a photo line. President Obama will then participate in an intimate dinner with 30 couples. It is sure to be a very special evening."
Rhimes, who is also the creator of the ABC series "Grey's Anatomy," had previously been appointed by Obama to the Kennedy Center's board of trustees, the Reporter said.
