Newt Gingrich has endorsed Wisconsin Senate candidate Leah Vukmir ahead of her August Republican primary, the Washington Examiner reports.
"She follows through on her promises, and thanks to her work cutting taxes and balancing the state budget, Wisconsin’s economy is thriving. President Trump needs more fighters like Leah in the Senate who will work to keep America great and prosperous, and who won’t buckle under the pressure of liberal hysteria," the Examiner quoted Gingrich.
Vukmir, a state senator, also has the backing of Wisconsin heavyweights Speaker Paul Ryan and Rep. Sean Duffy.
Vukmir is taking on businessman Kevin Nicholson in the Aug. 14 primary.
Awaiting the Republican victor is Democratic incumbent Sen. Tammy Baldwin in November.
