New Mexico Democratic Sen. Martin Heinrich holds a strong advantage over his two major opponents, Republican Mick Rich and Libertarian former Gov. Gary Johnson, according to a new poll from Emerson College.
In a poll of just under one thousand people, Heinrich, the state’s junior senator, received 48 percent of the vote. Rich, a commercial contractor and first-time candidate, won 32 percent and Johnson, who served as New Mexico’s governor from 1995 to 2002 as a Republican, got 16 percent, with six percent undecided.
The poll also found that President Donald Trump is viewed unfavorably by the majority, 55 percent, of voters in the state.
Emerson polled 936 people from October 24-26, with a margin of error of +/- 3.4 percentage points.
