A group that calls itself Republicans for the Rule of Law is waging a campaign against President Donald Trump, siding with Democrats in calls for witnesses to testify in a Senate impeachment trial, as The Hill reported Monday.
A video ad by the Never Trump activist group is demanding testimony from Rudy Giuliani, acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and former National Security Adviser John Bolton – all longtime, stout Republicans.
"These witnesses must testify," the ad states.
The group's Twitter and YouTube accounts were opened in March of 2018, amid myriad attempts to oust the president.
Chris Truax is the Republicans for Rule of Law spokesman, but he has advocated this summer for voting for any Democrat to beat Trump.
The Democrat-led House impeached Trump with its party majority, garnering no Republican votes and having two Democrats vote against both articles – abuse of power and obstruction of Congress – one Democrat voting against one, and another Democratic presidential primary candidate, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, merely voting present because she did not see the wrongdoing as rising to the level of an impeachment she rejected as merely partisan.
